The last week was an exciting one for us following our online campaign titled #Youthleadingeducation. This campaign was geared toward the promotion of #SDGs goal 4-Education.
It will interest you to know that while the Nigerian educational sector has been characterized by certain unsavory factors, there seems to be hope at the end of the tunnel rising from the fact that several well meaning individuals have taken up the responsibility of putting a smile on the faces of erstwhile deprived children.
Some highlights on the auspicious events of the week ending 25-08-2017 in which we profiled a handful of these wonderful individuals whose efforts have left and continues to leave positive marks and trails on the Nigerian educational map.
First on the list was @Otto-Orondaam. He is an exceptional Nigerian youth who has taken great steps to ensure inclusive education through his initiative: slum2school.org. His efforts have not gone unnoticed as he has been able to affect thousands of lives positively.
Next on the list was @Raquel Jacobs. She has won the hearts of many with her unrelenting willingness to always extend a helping hand to marginalised individuals in the rural areas of Nigeria. Her efforts has helped to rekindle the fire of enthusiasm for education amongst the less privileged children as well as teachers in Public schools.
We also profiled Iyinoluwa Abodeji an exceptional innovator who is a co-founder of @Andela. Through his initiative, a huge gap has been filled with respect to the sharp technological divide between Africa and the rest of the world.
Thereafter, we profiled @Victoria Ibiwoye. She is the founder of @1Africanchild Foundation. Through this foundation, she has been able to and continues to empower disadvantaged children with relevant education thereby making them agents of positive change in their communities.
We also featured Grace Ihejiamaizu a social entrepreneur and co-founder of @OpportunityDesk. Her platform has been able to provide under privileged youths with relevant information on learning and growth opportunities.
We also had the privilege of featuring Gideon Olanrewaju. He is the founder of Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi). His unquenchable passion for the improvement of the educational systems in resource poor areas has carved out a niche for him in the social development map of Africa.
Just to toot our horn some more as far Africa is concerned, we featured @Simiskeez. Simi Fajemirokun is the founder of Read to Succeed Africa @r2s-africa, a brilliant idea, making her a sure candidate for our Campaign. Her initiative stands for the practical improvement of the quality of learning in the educational sector.
And of course, our campaign will not be complete without featuring @Gossy Ukanwoke. He is an inspiring breath of fresh air, widely recognized for his contributions to the growth of educational technology. He is the founder of Beni American University, the President of Edu Tech, a technological company focused on helping traditional universities take their on-campus degree programs online.
As far as #Youthleadingeducation is concerned, the list is endless. It is for these reasons, that we believe that there is still hope for the Nigerian educational system if more youths will dare to take the bull by the horn and keep doing positive things in their little space.
